UC Davis CALFUSE Center is proud to host the 2008 US-Japan Workshop on Millimeter/Far-Infrared Wave/Plasma Diagnostics. This biennial workshop brings together plasma physicists from a variety of fields including magnetic, magnetic inertial and inertial confinement fusion to discuss mutual problems in the development of EM wave instrumentation, and experimental techniques for the characterization of high-temperature plasmas. Diagnostic techniques to be discussed include microwave far infrared interferometry, deflectometry, electron cyclotron emission imaging, reflectometry, and pulsed radar reflectometry. Talks will also be presented on technological advancements in this field, and how these advancements can impact the quality of measured data generated by these advanced diagnostics.
